Live in inland area of the forest. They will go to beach area only if they go for breeding. They usually find food in the forest or between stone, they are omnivorous animals, mainly eat fruits. They always use Achatina fulica as their shell, may be because Achatina fulica are easily found in inland area.

Chirping: Cannot make sound
Favorite Shell: Achatina fulica, Turbo shell, Tonna Shell

*Remark

Many people misidentify C. cavipes as C. violascens. If we look at their 1st pair of antenna, we can easily identify both of them. 1st pair of antenna of C. cavipes are not red, but C. violascens are red. In Japan, they belong to a natural monument.

The following species information  is for reference only

 Body Colour / Spot

Body colour is quite simple, usually in Dark Brown or Brown. Juvenile is similar to adult.

Dark Brown colour Brown colour

There are many light colour granule / spot (Red circle) on their walking legs and claws.

 Eyes / Eyestalks

Eyes are elongated in shape. Eyestalks of adult are black in colour. But for juvenile, only the lower part eyestalks of eyestalks are black (Red circle).

 Antenna

The bottom part of 2nd pair of antenna (Red circle) are orange in colour. But the 1st pair of antenna is not in red colour. Antennal acicle cannot move, fused with second segment of its peduncle.

 Claws / Walking Legs

Left claw is larger than right claw, and have light colour granule / spot. There are no ridge (////) on the upper part of the big claw. Tips of big colour tend to white / light colour (Red circle) , and the lower part have dark colour pattern. Also, there are some hair on the inside part of both claw.

The bottom part of left claw (red narrow) is outstanding toward canter.

Shape of big claw has a little bit different among different species

Walking legs are obviously slim, especially dactylus of their 3rd left walking leg (Red circle) is quite long and slim.

 Abdomen

Abdomen is quite slim and long (Red circle), this may be a reason why they always use in Achatina fulica. Another reason may be because they live in the inland area, so it is easier to find Achaina fulica as shell. (just my opinion)
