The following species information is for

Mainly in Red and Pink-red colour. Some crabs are full
of red. Some are light red and their walking legs have some
purple (Red circle) or orange (White colour). Some of the
body colour of this species are in orange. Generally ,
the body colour of their
juvenile
are sandy or light yellow. The surface of big claw is
purple, red colour will become much more when they grow up.
There are many black granule /
spot on their walking legs and claws.

Eyes are
round in shape.
But the shape is a little different with
C. brevimanus,
i.e.
the
bottom part of eyestalks of C. clypeatus is rather thick.
Eyes of C. clypeatus is not in black colour, but a little
bit brown
(below 2
pictures).
Eyestalks is white and the
there is some black-brown stripes on the eyestalks (Red
arrow).

Left claw is larger than right claw. The
surface of big claw is purple (Red circle) and there is no
ridge (////) on the upper part of the big claw.
There are some hair on the inside part of
both claws. It is believed that the big claw of elder crab,
purple colour is not so obvious.
Walking legs
is strong
and
the last 2 parts
(dactylus & propodus) of their 3rd left walking leg (Red circle) are very strong.

Abdomen is quite Short and fat (Red

It is believed that the body colour of their
juvenile
are
sandy or light yellow.
There are many black granule /
spot on the body. There are some light purple colour on the
surface of the big claw.
